Sunday 13th. July 2014 v. Malborough - away

Lost by 123 Runs

East Prawle Cricket club were away to Malborough last Sunday.

Despite the weather forecast it turned out to be a warm day if a little cloudy. Malborough batted first and scored freely. Their first two batsmen each scored 66. Morgan was out caught Tucker bowled Brazil and Burke was out hitting a six to the 'wrong boundary'! But the fine batting of Baldwin took the game away from Prawle as he scored a reasonably quick century. The other Malborough wickets were taken by T.Bromfield and Max Johnson, who took his first wicket, well done Max. Malborough were 308 for 6 wickets after their 35 overs.

Kovacic and Douglas were first into bat for Prawle, but found scoring difficult against the fast bowling of J.Rosewarne and Morgan, they took the score along to 64 when they were out. Ben Bromfield then came into bat and with the assistance of the rest of the team, especially Tim Bromfield and Martin Arundell. Ben Bromfield scored a marvellous 90, his highest score to date. Unfortunately this was not enough to overtake Malborough's 308 and Prawle were all out for 185, 123 short of Malborough's total. Despite the fast bowling of Malborough's opening bowlers it was Martin Rosewarne who did the most damage taking 4 wickets for 30. Baldwin took two wickets, J. Rosewarne and Martin took one apiece. Prawle are at home next Saturday to St. Bonaventure.
